Intramural Sports – It’s Aggies vs. Aggies
What is Intramural Sports?
For the purpose of fun and to encourage students to be active, many educational systems have Intramural (IM) Sports. Whether you played sports growing up or are now interested in trying something new, IM Sports has it all!
The philosophy of the intramural sports program at Texas A&M University is to encourage Aggies to have fun while being active, as well as a focus on students’ overall well-being.
Compared to professional leagues or sport clubs, IM Sports gives you the luxury of participating in one or more sports with little time commitment, less formality, and more fun.
Texas A&M Rec Sports offers Aggies the opportunity to join IM Sports throughout your time in Aggieland.
With competitive and recreational options within each sport, the intramural sports program has something for all backgrounds and skill levels.
Benefits of Joining:
- Hangout with friends or make new ones
- Low time commitment (typically 1 hour or less per week)
- All skill levels welcome
- Unleash your competitive spirit

Sport Clubs – Intercollegiate Showdowns What are Sport Clubs? Texas A&M Rec Sports offers its students the opportunity to be competitive against clubs and teams from other collegiate institutions at the state, regional, and national levels in 38 different Sport Clubs. According to the Texas A&M Sport Clubs Association, Sport Clubs are a unique opportunity for students to develop both athletic and leadership abilities. Each club is responsible for all aspects of operating and managing their organization and on average practice anywhere from 2-5 days per week, depending upon each club. The Department of Recreational Sports sponsors all Sport Clubs and assists with advising, facilities, event planning, and finances while also providing monetary support to each club to assist with their yearly expenses. Who can join? Each participant must be enrolled as a student at Texas A&M University, and have a minimum overall GPA of 2.0. Each Sport Club will determine its own membership guidelines, but they must be free of any restriction based on race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, gender, disability, age, or sexual orientation. Participants may be subject to further governing body or league guidelines for participation. In order to compete in competitions and represent Texas A&M University as part of a sport club, enrolled students, undergrad or graduate, must be taking a minimum of 6 credit hours or 3 credit hours if the member is enrolled with Blinn-team or in a co-curricular program. Minors who are Texas A&M students, and have their guardian’s consent and signature on the Assumption of Risk Form, may participate. Full Time Blinn College students ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE. What’s the cost? Most clubs have dues that are required. In addition, each club receives limited funding from the Department of Recreational Sports, but this does not subsidize all club expenses. Sport Club dues help reduce the costs incurred by the club. Dues help subsidize travel, equipment, league dues, etc. Dues are determined by club officers and can range anywhere from $25 – $3,300 per club. Please contact the club directly concerning the dues that are required for that club. All Sport Club officers contact information can be found on recsports.tamu.edu/sport-clubs. What sports are available? In 2023 – 2024 there are 38 different sport clubs including: For more information on Sport Clubs visit recsports.tamu.edu/sport-clubs.
