Fitness & Wellness

Throughout all Rec Sports facilities, our Fitness & Wellness program hosts fitness classes designed to help you decompress and strengthen your mind and body. Classes include pilates, step, cycle, and more! Fitness classes are programmed to cater to all intensity levels so you can get a full workout experience! With Fitness & Wellness, you can start your day calmly with sunrise yoga or end the day with a boxing bootcamp!

Group RecXercise

Group RecXercise classes are drop-in fitness classes.  See below for the schedule of classes and information regarding class passes. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact Celina Opskar at copskar@tamu.edu.

Class registration opens 7 days in advance. Participants are required to pre-register for a guaranteed spot. Check-in begins 15 minutes prior to class start time. Please arrive with adequate time to check-in and get set up. Studio doors are closed 5 MINUTES following class start time to ensure participant safety. Late entry past the 5 minutes is not permitted. ALL GROUP RECXERCISE CLASSES ARE FREE TO REC MEMBERS IN THE SUMMER. For classes in the fall and spring semesters, an All Access Pass includes ALL RecXercise classes, $5 classes include all cycle classes and all classes that fall between 4pm – 7pm. All other classes are FREE! Schedules are subject to change

REFUND POLICY:  No refunds will be given for All Access RecXercise passes. Refunds will only be given for one class passes if submitted within 24 hours or if a class is canceled or changed by Rec Sports. A partial refund of 80% is available before the start of a package for specialty classes, bootcamps, or programs. Exceptions – If a participant becomes ill or injured, an 80% refund is potentially available if a doctor’s note is provided. All refunds will be approved or denied by the Assistant Director of Fitness & Wellness or the Director of Fitness & Wellness.

Specialty Classes

Registration is required before attending any Specialty Class. Once a specialty class is full please sign up for a spot on the waiting list. You will be contacted via email if a spot opens up for you. Lastly, once you register for a class and time, you cannot move into a different time slot if that time slot is full.

Download the Rec Sports app and sign up under the ‘Fitness & Wellness’ icon to register for a class. Schedules are subject to change.

Pilates Reformer & Boxing Bootcamp | Fall 2025

Pilates Reformer Drop-In Classes

Derived from the rich conceptual sequence developed by Joseph Pilates, participants will engage the mind and body to execute exercises on a Reformer. These exercises involve the whole person while bringing attention to breath, proper form, and efficient movement patterns. Focused on strength, balance, and stability, this class creates dynamic challenges that will elevate your practice!

Fitness Instructor Training

This 6 week training will teach you everything you need to become a fitness instructor! We hire directly from this training.This is YOUR opportunity to join our team and share your energy with the Texas A&M Fitness & Wellness team! Classes you can teach with Rec Sports include:

    • Yoga and more!

Partner Yoga with University Health Services

Join us for a Partner Yoga event during Dating Violence Prevention and Awareness Month! In collaboration with University Health Services and Rec Sports, this event emphasizes building healthy relationships—romantic and platonic—while promoting wellness and providing resources for Texas A&M students. Enjoy a relaxing session and take home some swag!

TexFit 2026

The TexFit Conference began on June 28, 1997 when UT-Austin, Texas A&M, and Southwest Texas State (Texas State) met at UT RecSports for the first time for what was then known as the Texas Aerobics Choreography Exchange. The Texas Aerobics Choreography Exchange has evolved into a full fitness conference and expo for collegiate programs across the state of Texas and surrounding states. We strive to provide fitness professionals with training opportunities, educational lectures, certification opportunities, and networking. Click HERE for more information.

De-Stress Fest

De-Stress Fest is an event held by Rec Sports and Aggie Mental Health Ambassadors in collaboration with other departments and organizations on campus that is centered around promoting mental health awareness by providing different activities that can help reduce levels of stress. These activities are usually movement based, educational based or activity based. Each booth focuses on a unique skill or tip that helps students reduce stress levels.

Rock It Out

Join Rec Sports, CAPS, and the Office of Sustainability for our Rock It Out event. There will be a chance to decorate a rock and place it around campus to inspire others that we are in this together. Come ready to decompress, relax and learn some helpful tips for taking care of yourself through your test weeks. Join us for a fun time filled with rock decorating, snack, tips & more.

Fitness Outreach

Sign up for a nationally certified group exercise instructor or personal trainer to lead a private class at any Rec facility or in your residence hall, organizational or departmental meeting, special event, or educational lecture.
