Judo
The Texas A&M judo team was founded in 1963 and is open to all Texas A&M students. Judo, a grappling sport, uses throws, pinning combinations and submission holds. No experience is necessary, but the main focus of the team is competition. As members of the National Collegiate Judo Association and USA Judo, the team competes in numerous tournaments throughout the year. The team has about 40 members, 15 to 20 of whom compete regularly. It attends about 20 tournaments per year, traveling to cities across the United States.
