Dive into Rec Sports Aquatics, where you can improve your skills in the water! At Rec Sports Aquatics, you can get certified in various levels of scuba, learn how to swim, become a lifeguard serving your fellow Aggies, or simply relax in one of the five pools we have at the Student Rec Center. Programs and Classes

Sign up for American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification training at Rec Sports! Participants will need to complete an online classroom activity before the first night of class.

Lifeguard Certification: Course 1

This program allows participants who have completed the classroom and confined water components of Basic SCUBA to complete their training and receive their certifications. Participants 12-17 yrs of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

This is an American Red Cross Learn to Swim program for adult swimmers. Learn to Swim with our certified instructors; we are open to any level of swimming ability. All lessons are in the instructional pool. Registration for lessons ends the day prior to the first day of each session.

Natatorium & Pools

The 50-meter pool is a state-of-the-art aquatics space designed for both competitive and recreational use. Measuring 50 meters in length and 25 yards in width, the pool holds 822,000 gallons of water and has a capacity of 519 people. The water temperature is maintained between 78 to 80 degrees, with a depth ranging from seven to nine feet. Accessibility is a priority, with accessible chair lifts available to ensure inclusivity for all users.

The Texas A&M Rec Sports Outdoor Pool offers a refreshing aquatic escape for students and the local community. With a beach entrance designed for easy and gradual water access, it caters to visitors of all ages. This spacious 25-yard-long, 16-yard-wide outdoor pool holds 202,700 gallons of water, can accommodate up to 543 people, and features a temperature range of 78 to 81 degrees. The pool’s depth varies from 1 to 4 feet, and it includes amenities like lap swimming lanes, water basketball and volleyball, and a children’s play area, making it ideal for both relaxation and recreation. Whether you’re looking to swim, bask in the sun, or enjoy water-based activities with friends, this pool is a perfect spot for cooling off and outdoor fun.

General-Use Spa:

Designed for both relaxation and convenience, the general -se spa provides a perfect retreat after swimming. Measuring 4 yards by 4 yards, it holds 1,750 gallons of water and can accommodate up to 10 people. The water temperature ranges from 103 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit, and with a depth of almost 3 feet, it offers an ideal environment for unwinding post-swim.

Dive Pool Spa:

For those seeking a calming and convenient experience after swimming, the dive pool spa is an excellent choice. Located next to the deep dive well, it shares the same 4-yard by 4-yard dimensions as the general-use spa. This spa holds 1,446 gallons of water and comfortably fits up to 8 people. The temperature ranges from 102 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit, and its almost 3-foot depth provides a soothing space for relaxation after a swim.

The Natatorium also features a 17-foot deep dive well that doubles as an eight-lane, 25-meter pool. Equipped with diving platforms ranging from one to 10 meters, the well measures 25 meters in length and 19 yards in width, holding 568,000 gallons of water. It has a capacity of 184 people and maintains a temperature range of 80 to 82 degrees. Accessibility is a priority in the dive well, with accessible chair lifts available to ensure inclusivity for all users.

This 8-lane, 25-yard indoor lap pool provides a dedicated space for members and guests to meet their recreational swimming needs. Measuring 25 yards in length and 16 yards in width, the pool holds 147,700 gallons of water and can accommodate up to 320 people. The water temperature ranges from 79 to 81 degrees, and the depth is 4 feet. Serving as a valuable resource for the aquatic community, it offers flexibility and convenience during large swim meets and events, while catering to both competitive swimmers and those seeking a peaceful environment for lap swimming.

The Texas A&M Rec Sports Instructional Pool is designed for teaching and skill development, making it ideal for swim lessons and water-based instructional programs. It hosts a range of classes, including scuba training, kayak roll clinics, and water aerobics sessions, catering to aquatic enthusiasts and those looking to improve their skills. The pool, which is 20 yards long and 13 yards wide, holds 54,000 gallons of water and can accommodate up to 157 swimmers. WIt provides a comfortable environment for all ages and abilities with a depth of 4 feet and a temperature range of 80-82 degrees. Equipped with a special needs accessible entrance, the pool is perfect for learning scuba diving, refining kayaking techniques, or enjoying a water aerobics workout, making it a prime setting for aquatic education and fitness at Texas A&M Rec Sports.
