Student Rec Center Set to Begin Track Renovations in December
Upgraded indoor track and flooring enhancements coming soon, with more exciting plans on the horizon
Exciting Renovations Coming to Texas A&M Rec Sports This December
Big changes are coming to the Student Recreation Center this winter, and we can’t wait for you to see what’s in store. Starting Dec. 3, Texas A&M Rec Sports will begin a renovation project to enhance your experience and elevate the facilities to the next level.
The current indoor track is getting an upgrade with a brand-new, state-of-the-art Mondo Super X track — the same world-class material used in Texas A&M’s Indoor Track & Field Complex. This upgrade promises a smoother, faster, and more durable surface, perfect for runners and walkers of all levels.
The second and third floors of the Student Recreation Center will also undergo a transformation, with the outdated carpet being replaced by Mondo Sports Impact rubber flooring. This high-performance flooring, already used in the strength and conditioning spaces, is designed to withstand heavy traffic while providing superior comfort and safety.
“We’re incredibly excited about this transition and can’t wait for our members to experience the upgrades firsthand,” said Jerod Wilson, Associate Director of Capital Projects at Rec Sports. “The new materials, from the Mondo Super X track to the Mondo Sports Impact flooring, are top-of-the-line and will provide durability, comfort, and performance for years to come. We’re confident these improvements will enhance the Rec experience for everyone.”
The renovations are scheduled to wrap up by Jan. 12, just in time to welcome you back for the spring 2025 semester.
We’re thrilled about these upgrades and look forward to discussing even more exciting plans for future renovations this spring!
