Last Week of Youth Programs Camp Looks Back on Successful Inaugural Summer

Young Aggies join Rec Sports for Six Themed Summer Camp Sessions

Counselors and young Aggies discover the engaging side of physical activity through recreational games, team sports, swimming and outdoor adventures at this year’s Friday Fun Day.

Kiddos, pack your bags, break out the swimsuits and don’t forget the sunscreen! On Monday, June 3, Youth Programs kicked off its inaugural year as a program area with the very first summer camp session, and now, five weeks later, Session 6 is in full force.

The sessions so far sported Beach Bash, Rec Olympics, Mission Impossible, Exploration Lab, and Aggie Spirit themes for the Friday Fun Day, but first—four days of specifically curated activities in every Rec Sports program area to promote fitness and camaraderie in campers. And snacks, of course.

On Monday through Thursday, campers swim, play sports, learn about the Rec, and join in on tons of camp games. When Friday rolls around, it’s time for rock climbing, arts and crafts, and themed fun.

The opening Beach-Bash-themed session meant jumping into summer excitement, with everything from splash pads to sand games. This week’s final session features a Camp’s Got Talent theme.

The camps are led by student employees who have been planning and training to create a safe, engaging and enjoyable camp experience as Youth Programs Counselors.

Being the newest program area within Rec Sports, Youth Programs invites young Aggies to explore recreation, sports, swimming, and outdoor adventures with this and future opportunities. As they finish out a successful first summer of camp, Youth Programs looks ahead to much more recreational fun to come. Don’t miss any upcoming events on the Youth Programs’ website.
