Rec Sports Facilities
Welcome to Texas A&M University’s Department of Rec Sports! We are proud to be one of the finest collegiate recreation programs in the country. At Rec Sports, our programming unfolds across a total of six recreational facilities, including the flagship Student Rec Center, the Polo Road Rec Center, and the brand-new Southside Rec Center, located near the Commons residence halls. Our auxiliary facilities include the Penberthy Rec Sports Complex, the Physical Education Activity Program (PEAP) building, and the Omar Smith Tennis Center. With this campuswide presence, recreation is always within reach, no matter where you are on campus.
Student Rec Center
First opened in 1995, the Student Rec Center is the flagship Rec Sports facility at Texas A&M University. About 500,000 square feet of recreational space is available to students, including a 44-foot-tall climbing wall, indoor track, and pools for competitive and recreational swimming.
Omar Smith Instructional Tennis Center
Rec Sports has partnered with PEAP to give students access to the Omar Smith Instructional Tennis Center! This facility is home to 15 state-of-the-art tennis courts and 10 pickleball courts, including 12 that are lit. This facility is used for Health & Kinesiology classes as well as recreational use by Rec members.
