Spring semester has officially begun, and with it, Rec Sports has once again opened its doors to welcome Aggies across campus in celebration of its centennial year. With 100 years of history, new events, ideas, and opportunities invite students to reflect, white longtime favorites like Group RecXercise classes, Strength & Conditioning programs, the climbing tower and trainings in the natatorium remain available to support students through the semester. Here’s everything you need to know to keep your fitness in check for spring 2026.
Celebrate 100 Years of Rec Sports With Our Student Kickoff Event
For 100 years, Rec Sports has shaped the Aggie experience through fitness and community, and 2026 marks that milestone. Join us as we kick off a century of Rec Sports at Texas A&M with an afternoon dedicated to YOU, our students!
The event takes place on Wednesday, Jan. 14 from 3-6pm at the Student Recreation Center. You get a chance to win swag, play games and celebrate 100 years of Rec Sports memories. The event is a dedication to all the students, past and present, as a thank-you for being the heart behind what we do.

Construction Updates
This spring semester gives students the opportunity to enjoy the newly renovated Rec Sports facilities; from the climbing tower and bouldering wall to the upgraded locker rooms and dry saunas. With the dry saunas now officially open, students can escape the cold while giving their bodies and minds a space to relax, reset and recover.

Enter to Win a Play Pass
From Monday, Jan. 19, through Monday, Jan. 26, Rec Sports is kicking off the semester with Free Weeks. Purchase an Ultimate Play Pass during this time to be entered for a chance to have it fully reimbursed. This means you could play in as many sports as you want for FREE all semester long.
A new year brings a new season of Intramural Sports. From soccer and basketball to cornhole and battleship, there’s a game for everyone. Start the semester with a friendly match, or if you build a flawless winning streak, take it to the playoffs for a chance to earn your spot on the Wall of Champions.
Whether you’re chasing competition or community, this is your chance to jump in and play!
No End To Group RecXercise
Sticking to a resolution or goal can be tough without accountability, structure and guidance. Group RecXercise, provides all three, giving students the support they need to stay consistent and challenged.
From the calming flow of Sunrise Yoga to the high-engery burn of Party at the Barre, Fitness & Wellness offers classes for every fitness level. Try them out during Free Weeks to find your perfect fit!
Beyond Group RecXercise, Fitness & Wellness also offers specialty classes like Pilates Reformer and Boxing Bootcamp. These five-week package programs are designed for focused progress, though Pilates Reformer also offers drop-in sessions on Fridays and Saturdays — a great option for those who want to try before committing.
Dip Your Toes in The Water
From the quiet lanes of the natatorium to the sun-lit outdoor pools, Aquatics offers something for every swimmer. Whether it’s a chilly 40-degree morning or a warm 80-degree afternoon, students can count on consistent swim opportunities.
For those looking to build confidence in the water, Aquatics offers Adult Learn-to-Swim classes that strengthen foundational skills. The program also offers Lifeguard and Scuba certifications equipping students with the training that can save lives. This spring, take the plunge and make waves well beyond the pool.
Get On The Path To Become a Personal Trainer
This spring, Strength & Conditioning is hosting a Personal Training Prep course beginning Feb. 1. The 11-week course prepares participants for the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) personal trainer exam, the first step towards becoming a certified personal trainer.
From learning about anatomy to creating plans for clients, the course combines theoretical knowledge with practical application. Registration is open now and closes on Sunday, Jan. 25. Take the first step toward your NSCA certification and register today!
For those not pursuing certification but still looking for structured training and/or guided workouts, programs such as Intro to Strength Training, Strength and Conditioning Fundamentals and Train Like an Athlete offer expert instruction with progressive overload. From Feb 2-6 classes are FREE, giving you the opportunity to experience high-intensity training firsthand.
Get CPR Certified
From everyday injuries to unexpected emergencies, knowing how to respond can make all the difference. Safety & Risk Management, in partnership with the American Red Cross, offers Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certifications for students.
The blended learning format combines online modules with hands-on training, providing both knowledge and real-world experience. With multiple sessions available, students can get certified at a time that fits their schedule.
Climb, Camp & Compete with Outdoor Adventures
Whether it’s kayaking at Lake Bryan, camping in the Ozark Mountains or climbing on the new indoor climbing tower, Outdoor Adventures makes it easy for students to choose their own adventure.
Returning after 15 years, Outdoor Adventures is bringing back Pumpfest, an annual indoor climbing competition. This event is all about exploring new routes and enjoying the community. Climbers will earn points for the climbs they complete, with routes ranging from beginner-friendly to advanced. Whether you’re here to try something new or to push your limits, it’s a chance to share the wall and celebrate progress together.
