  • Become a Certified Dance Fitness Professional through WERQ®, a wildly addictive cardio dance workout based on the hottest pop and hip hop music. The master class is FREE and will begin at 9am.

  • Do you have a passion for health, fitness, and helping others? Are you interested in learning about what it takes to be a fitness instructor? This twenty-hour Fitness Instructor training will help prepare you and will be followed by auditions to be an instructor at the Rec. Register at the Rec Member Services Desk by March 20th! Come learn about our Fitness Instructor Training and what it takes to be a fitness instructor! Informationals will be held in room 255 on Feb. 11th & 12th from 7-8pm.

  • Try Before You Buy (FREE!): Jan. 13 – 26

Description: Take advantage of this rare opportunity to train under our highest certified and most experienced yoga instructor. This level 2 Hatha Yoga class will focus on advanced variations of basic poses. There will be a special emphasis on level 2 skills such as hand & arm balances, binding, as well as revolved poses and inversions. Previous yoga experience is strongly recommended.

Description: Pilates is a chance to train with a nationally certified instructor who will facilitate a cumulative learning experience focused on your goals. Exercises with props such as resistance bands, Pilates rings, stability balls, and much more will be used for full-body toning. Great for participants of all levels, Pilates will add new dimension to your fitness.

Description: Come experience energetic and fun weekly lessons with our experienced hip hop instructor. This class is designed for the beginner Hip Hop dancer who would like to advance their ability. Every skill will be broken down into basic steps, body movements, and choreography for a well-rounded class! You will learn something new, have fun, and get a great workout.

Description: Have you ever wanted to try Yoga? The goal of this class is to introduce the fundamentals of yoga in a relaxed environment. Description: Take your Pilates practice to the next level with Pilates Reformer. Derived from the rich conceptual sequence developed by Joseph Pilates, participants will engage the mind and body to execute exercises on and off of the Reformer that involve the whole person while bringing attention to the breath, proper form, and efficient movement patterns. Focused on strength, balance, and stability, this class creates dynamic challenges that will elevate your practice. **Note: registration available on a first-come first-serve basis due to limited number of Reformers**

Description: This class is a beginning-intermediate level study of classical ballet. Starting from “square one”, it focuses on the basics of strength, body alignment, flexibility, and stage presence through performance of both barre and center combination work. This class builds upon the knowledge learned to further your dance ambitions while staying physically fit and artistically graceful in a relaxed setting. A perfect way to bring a little grace into the stressful college lifestyle.

Description: PiYo combines the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility advantages of yoga. Description: In this course, we will take a deep dive into the different types and elements of meditation, in order to cultivate a practice of compassion, non-judgement and acceptance, training our minds to live in the present and flow, in order to create more peace, joy and harmony in our lives. Your instructor will guide participants to break-through their thoughts, beliefs, negative habits and anything else that might be holding them back, so they can love themselves and their lives.

Description: Learn how to impress the crowd when you go out dancing! Latin Mix will teach you the best of Latin dance, including genres that will give you a diverse basic knowledge. Latin Mix will introduce the basic steps for Bachata, Merengue, Salsa, and more. It is strongly recommended to sign up with a partner!

Description: This class is designed for the beginning country western dancer. Whether you have never danced before or want to strengthen your basic skills, this class is for you! You will learn how to lead and follow a partner, perform basic turns, and improve overall technique. There will be plenty of space to dance and have fun. Description: This self-defense class is taught by a certified Smartsafe instructor. Women Warriors Self Defense is perfect for students and staff looking to reduce uneasy feelings and become more confident in a safe, non-judgmental environment. Class meets once per week for 8 weeks.

Description: This class will be guided meditation to restore and rejuvenate at core levels. By using body sensing, breath awareness, guided imagery and other practices, you are systematically guided on a meditation journey, through each level of your whole being. Spring 2020 BootCamps

BootCamp

Designed to take your fitness to the next level. This outdoor BootCamp will meet two days per week with activities such as running, power-walking, plyometrics and cardiovascular drills, and resistance training. BootCamp meets in the Rec at Member Services.

Boxing BootCamp

Are you ready to unleash your inner athlete? Our nationally-certified group fitness instructors present an authentic boxing program that includes training on the heavy bag, speed bag, and Boxmaster, as well as full-body conditioning exercises. This workout will help build strength in your arms, legs, back, and core, and help to improve your cardiovascular endurance and self-confidence! This progressive program is suited for all fitness levels. Gloves and wraps required*

A nationally certified group exercise instructor or personal trainer will come to your residence hall, organizational meeting or department for a private class, special event or educational lecture.

  • Prices: • $50 for off-site locations • $80 for Rec Sports location (This includes usage of our equipment in the studios.) • Non-members must pay $5 for guest passes. Your organization/department can pre-pay for these passes or each guest can pay individually. • Rosters of non-members must be sent 24 hours before event. • We reserve the right to bill you for extra guest passes.
