TexFIT & Friends is a Collegiate Fitness Conference that provides an opportunity for students to share ideas as well as gain experience in presenting a variety of different fitness instructor & personal training sessions!

How It All Began

TexFIT began in 1997 when Rosemary Crisweisser, former fitness director at the University of Texas, and DeAun Woosley, fitness director at Texas A&M University, had a goal of providing campus recreation student fitness instructors and personal trainers with the same level of excitement, education, and professionalism experienced at large-scale national fitness conferences.

Where We Are Today

Last year, attendance reached over 400 participants and branched out to neighboring state universities. This year’s theme is Ignite Your Passion! It is our hope that after participating in TexFIT & Friends 2016 your passion will be re-ignited for making your programs the best they can be!

  • Schwinn® Cycling: Class Design Crunch Time (2 AFAA/.2 ACE)

Every instructor knows that an awesome class comes from preparation and planning; every great instructor knows how to develop that class in less time! This workshop is all about working smarter, not harder to put great rides together. You’ll learn multiple class design tricks of the trade and walk away with a library of 25 mix and match stages you can use immediately to create a ride from scratch or re-energize a well-loved workout.   • 101 Ways to BOSU®! with Shannon Fable, Alison Smith and Lucy Waite
    (2 AFAA/.2 ACE credits). Participants will receive the 101 Ways to BOSU® Handout and DVD.

How many ways can you BOSU®? We promise 101 exercises on the spot that quickly morph into double the fun with very little effort. Explore new ideas for using the BOSU® Balance Trainer for cardio, strength, core and flexibility drills that are easily scaled down for those new to balance training, or enhanced to challenge your most veteran participants. We will explore building blocks to restructure drills for unlimited BOSU® workouts. Whether you are new to BOSU®, or a groupie begging for more, BOSU® 101 will fill your toolbox with more than enough to get you through the next year!

Come have a “ball at the barre” with us and learn how to utilize the Pilates ball to take your barre choreography up two notches! The Pilates ball is a dynamic prop that can be used in almost every segment of a barre class, not just during core work. Instructors will master how to weave together muscle-sculpting barre exercises with the Pilates ball and high energy cardio barre segments for a fun and creative total body workout!

Step 2: Registration Payment

Click HERE to pay for registration.

Registration Info:

Register before January 29 and the registration fee will be $25/person.
Register after January 29 and the registration fee will be $35/person.

This fee includes a t-shirt and lunch. T-shirts will be ordered February 1.

Last day to register will be February 12. Drop-in registration will NOT be available the day of the event.

Dance Demo

Demo team presentations will occur during lunch. Demo teams are a great way to showcase classes offered at your university as well as share your staff’s talent, creativity and school pride, while competing for the TexFIT Spirit Stick! This will be a three-minute, pre-choreographed routine that includes at least four different formats. A non-biased judge panel will determine the new spirit stick winner.
