The Texas A&M Judo Team was founded in 1963 and is open to all A&M students. Judo, a grappling sport, uses throws, pinning combinations and submission holds. No experience is necessary but, the main focus of the team is to support competition. As members of the National Collegiate Judo Association and U.S. Judo Inc., the team is eligible to compete in numerous tournaments throughout the year. The team consists of roughly 40 members, 15-20 of whom compete on a regular basis. The team attends approximately 20 tournaments per year, traveling to cities around the US.
