Memberships

Student Memberships
Most students taking one or more semester hours automatically become Rec Members when they register and pay the Recreational Sports Fee. Some students do not pay the Recreational Sports Fee (i.e., students registered ‘in absentia’, students only taking internet classes, co-op students, etc.); these students will need to purchase a membership separately.

Continuing student memberships are available to students who were registered for class the previous semester but are not enrolled for the current semester. These are most frequently utilized by students who are in Bryan/College Station for the summer but are not enrolled for classes at Texas A&M and by students who graduated the previous semester but are still living locally. Continuing student memberships are $98 for one semester or $49 for one summer session.

Non-Student Memberships
Besides students, the following individuals are eligible to purchase Rec memberships:

Memberships include access to Rec Sports facilities in the Rec Center, Read Building, and G. Rollie White Annex. Some Rec Sports programs have additional charges in addition to the membership price (i.e., group exercise classes, instructional classes, climbing facility, intramural sports, locker rentals).

Membership prices are:
$340 annually (expires August 8, 2008)
$250 for two semesters (expires May 8, 2008)
$140 for one semester (expires December 13, 2007)

Payroll Deduction
Additionally, current employees are encouraged to sign up for their membership through payroll deduction. Patrons will make an initial payment at the time of purchase and monthly deductions will occur from the member’s pay check each month. This payment option is only available for annual memberships and does not include locker rentals.

$29/month for a 12 month membership
$38.67/month for a 9 month membership

Staff members who are employed on a nine-month contract will also be able to participate in the payroll deduction program. They have two options – pay the $29/month for a membership that is good for the nine months of their employment (expires May 31) or pay a slightly higher rate to have the membership effective continuously for the entire year. The higher rate will offset the fact that there are three months that no deduction will occur from their pay check.

Rec members who are not eligible for payroll deduction (i.e., retirees and spouses of students) may have their membership paid through a bank draft.
