Instructional Classes

General Information

Registration:

In Person: To enroll in a class, please go to the Member Services Desk in the lobby of the Student Recreation Center during any open hour.  Phone in registration is not permitted. Payment is required at the time of registration and appropriate method of payment is cash, check, or credit card (Master Card, Visa, American Express, Discover and Aggie Bucks). General public/non-members must register in person.

On-Line:  ONLY CURRENTLY enrolled Texas A&M students may register on-line.  Payment is required at the time of registration and the following credit cards may be used: Master Card, Visa, American Express, and Discover.  For couple dance classes, if one of the pair is not a currently enrolled student, you cannot register on-line.  There is not a mechanism in place to gather non-student data and the person will not be allowed to enter the facility.

For information, please contact Paula Opal at 979-845-3076. If she is not available, please leave a message with your specific questions. Or, better yet, please e-mail your questions to popal@rec.tamu.edu.

Definition: Rec Member is a currently enrolled Texas A&M student and faculty/staff/spouse who have a current recreational sports membership.  Graduate students and/or people that are interning/cooping and have waived the Rec Center fee are considered general public.

Definition: General public/non-member is a person who does not have a current recreational membership. This includes people who are not currently taking classes at Texas A&M University, faculty/staff/spouse/retirees who have not purchased the Rec Center membership and members of the community not associated with the university.

The general public registration fee allows the participant to enter the Student Recreation Center 15 minutes prior to the start of class and must exit the facility at the conclusion of the class. Non-members are not permitted to use any facilities and/or equipment that are not part of the class instruction. To access the facility, non-members must show picture identification, preferably a driver’s license. Anyone who does not have proper identification may be denied access to the facility and class time will not be made up.

Refund policy:

Many classes fill quickly due to limited enrollment practices. If the class you wish to take is full, please check back at the Member Services desk as often as possible. Most people that request refunds do so two-four days before class is scheduled to begin and immediately following the first class session. There isn’t a waiting list for classes and spaces cannot be held without payment.
