Venture Camp

Venture: Base Camp 2017

Venture: Base Camp is an innovative collaboration between the Extended Orientation Program (home of Fish Camp and T-Camp) and Outdoor Adventures. If you are looking for a fun and exciting experience as your orientation to Texas A&M and college life, then this is the place for you. As the name implies, 25 Aggies each session will be base-camped in the Texas Hill Country where we will enjoy a variety of outdoor adventure programs blended with plenty of time to examine yourself, learn about Aggie life and core values, and learn to work together. No prior outdoor experience is required, but a willingness to be an active participant and team player is very important.

Join the conversation on Facebook. Register now at venturecamps.tamu.edu.

Extended Trips

OA offers Extended Trips during school breaks. These trips usually last from 4 to 10 days and typically consist of either multi-sport adventures or deeper wilderness experiences. Many extended trips venture to farther destinations, like national parks and other states, and include lodging, transportation, related equipment, and most food.

Students have multiple options to pay for their Extended Trip. The registration fee can be applied to the student’s fee account, which will then be paid to Student Business Services or we also accept most major credit cards, checks (with driver’s license, state issued identification card, or passport) and cash.

Trip Information Sheets

Upon registering you will receive a detailed trip information sheet that includes pre-trip orientation meeting schedule, refund and cancellation information, location descriptions, a basic gear list and general information.

Trip Policies

  • Trips are open on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Depending on the trip, participation is usually limited to 5 – 10 participants
  • Minimum numbers will vary depending upon the trip (minimum number of participants is usually required for a trip or activity to “make”)

Trip Skill and Physical Exertion Levels

The majority of Outdoor Adventures activities are offered to beginning-level participants with no prior experience in the activity. If an activity requires prior experience and/or instruction and mastery of basic skills in order to participate, this information will be included in the specific activity description.

All Outdoor Adventures activities require a minimum level of physical exertion and fitness. Those activities requiring a higher degree of physical exertion and fitness and/or taking place in remote areas over an extended period of time will be detailed in the specific activity description.
