Description: Contemporary Dance is an expressive and popular format that integrates dance technique with artistry. Come learn choreography that will allow you to enhance your dance skills, release stress, and improve your fitness. Prior dance experience is recommended but not required.

Description: This class is designed for dancers of all levels who would like to explore different stylistic jazz choreography. Technique will be introduced, while jazz choreography combinations will be incorporated throughout the semester. Class meets once per week with our most veteran dance instructor!

Description: Come experience energetic and fun weekly lessons with our experienced hip hop instructor. This class is designed for the beginner Hip Hop dancer who would like to advance their ability. Every skill will be broken down into basic steps, body movements, and choreography for a well-rounded class! You will learn something new, have fun, and get a great workout.

Description: Have you ever wanted to try Yoga? The goal of this class is to introduce the fundamentals of yoga in a relaxed environment. While educational and fitness oriented, you can expect a stress-reducing practice that leaves you feeling renewed and revitalized. Mats are provided; bring personal mats at your own preference.

Description: Pilates is a chance to train with a nationally certified instructor who will facilitate a cumulative learning experience focused on your goals. Exercises with props such as resistance bands, Pilates rings, stability balls, and much more will be used for full-body toning. Great for participants of all levels, Pilates will add new dimension to your fitness.

Description: Don’t miss out on the exercise format that is sweeping the nation! Barre PLUS is a sexy, energetic, ballet and Pilates fusion that weaves together traditional muscle-sculpting barre choreography with exhilarating cardio segments to define and challenge the total body in a whole new way. The best aspects of dance, strength training, and Pilates have been combined into a 60 minutes. Get fit, tone, and have fun at the barre all while moving to upbeat energizing music.

Description: Want to get fit FAST? Get fit, tone, sweat, and have fun at the barre all while moving to upbeat energizing music. Barre BURN is an innovative and challenging barre experience that combines traditional muscle-sculpting barre choreography with the added cardio benefits of high intensity interval training to define and challenge the full body in a whole new way. Class meets once per week for just 45 minutes in room 303!

Description: Next Level Hip Hop is for the dancer who wants to continue expanding their horizons. The class is based on modern urban movements influenced by all genres while establishing and building upon fundamental dance moves such as popping and locking. Our instructor has lots of dance experience in various performance groups that he can’t wait to share with you.

Description: This beginner class will teach graceful arm and hand movements, undulations, isolations, and hip rotations, with a concentration on abdominal strength. As the class progresses, students will learn stage presence, floor work, costuming, and identifying Middle Eastern rhythms. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a scarf or shawl to wrap your hips.

Description: Take advantage of this rare opportunity to train under our highest certified and most experienced yoga instructor. This level 2 Hatha Yoga class will focus on advanced variations of basic poses. There will be a special emphasis on level 2 skills such as hand & arm balances, binding, as well as revolved poses and inversions. Previous yoga experience is strongly recommended.

A perfect way to bring a little grace into the stressful college lifestyle.

Description: Inspired by the high-energy music from Indian films, BollyFit is a Bollywood dance fitness class that will spice up your workout routine! You will learn technique and choreography that incorporate rhythmic, full body movement designed to help you tone and build endurance. No dance experience required!

Description: Learn how to impress the crowd when you go out dancing! Latin Mix will teach you the best of Latin dance, including genres that will give you a diverse basic knowledge. Latin Mix will introduce the basic steps for Bachata, Merengue, Salsa, and more. It is strongly recommended to sign up with a partner!

Boxing BootCamp

Are you ready to unleash your inner athlete? Two nationally-certified personal trainers and group fitness instructors present an authentic boxing program that includes training on the heavy bag, speed bag, and Boxmaster, as well as full-body conditioning exercises. This workout will help build strength in your arms, legs, back, and core, and help to improve your cardiovascular endurance and self-confidence! This progressive program is suited for all fitness levels.

Fitness Outreach Services

A nationally certified group exercise instructor or personal trainer will come to your residence hall, organizational meeting or department for a private class, special event or educational lecture.

  • *You may provide your own space for the event or request a Rec Sports Group Exercise Room. Please indicate your preferred location inside the Rec (ex. Archery Room). Rental of the room and availability should be confirmed by Tawyna Moehlman at tmoehlman@rec.tamu.edu or 979.862.1322
  • *We will do our best to schedule the requested instructor, but cannot guarantee.
  • • This form must be submitted at least 2 weeks before the requested date. • Yoga/Pilates Classes: Mats will not be provided. • Music system must be available at your facility. • Pricing for Services: $50.00 per session (additional instructor $25.00). • Private classes at the Rec require a fee for room rental.
  • Form of Payment: (needed at least 3 days prior to event) Visa: MasterCard: Check IDT#:____________ SOFC:____________ • IDT (Interdepartmental Transfers) payments must be paid to Accounting, Tawyna Moehlman (979-862-1322). • Other payments can be made inside the Rec at Member Services (979-845-0526). • Make checks payable to TAMU.
