Certification Courses

Rec Sports is dedicated to helping our patrons get the training they need to meet job requirements and achieve personal goals.

Class Description: PulsePointe Barre is an innovative and challenging barre experience that seamlessly weaves together traditional muscle-sculpting barre choreography with exhilarating cardio segments to define and challenge the body in a whole new way. PulsePointe Barre founder Lauren George will be leading this incredible training day.

Class Description: YogaFit is based on the ancient fitness science of hatha yoga and blends balance, strength, flexibility, and power in a fitness format. YogaFit overcomes the mystery of yoga by delivering a practical, user-friendly style that is accessible, understandable, and doable by individuals at any level of fitness.

Class Description: An 18-hour Group RecXercise instructor training followed by auditions. Participants will receive a FIT Manual and music CD for practice. Audition will consist of a 12-minute mini class of step, Kickbox, or floor aerobics on Sunday, April 30.

  • Sundays: Mar. 26, Apr. 2, Apr. 9 & Apr. 23, 5pm – 8:30pm
  • Saturday, Apr. 29, 2pm – 5pm

CPR Training

CPR is a life-saving skill, and you never know when you’ll need it. Rec Sports offers certification training courses to help you be prepared!

All CPR classes are taught by AHA-certified instructors. Class participants must sign up online or register at the Rec Center Member Services desk prior to taking the class. Class dates/times may be subject to change. Class limit: 16.

Spring 2017 Class Schedule & Information

Class Description: Learn CPR, AED use, relief of choking in adults and children, and use of barrier devices for all ages. This class is for those who have a duty to respond to cardiac emergencies because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements.

  • Wed., Mar. 8: 5pm – 9pm
  • Thu., Apr. 13: 5pm – 9pm
  • Wed., May 10: 5pm – 9pm

Location: Rec Center room 281

Cost: $45 Rec members; $50 non-members

Class Description: Learn how to manage illness and injuries in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. Course content includes general principles, medical emergencies, injury emergencies, CPR and AED, and environmental emergencies. This class is for those who have a duty to respond to first aid or cardiac emergencies because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements.

  • Thu., Apr. 20: 5pm – 11pm

Location: Rec Center Room 281

Cost: $55 Rec members; $60 non-members

Class Description: Learn core material such as adult and pediatric CPR (including two-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag mask), foreign-body airway obstruction, and automated external defibrillation (AED) use. This class is for healthcare providers such as EMS personnel, physician assistants, doctors, dentists, nurses, and respiratory therapists who must have a credential (card) documenting successful completion of a CPR course.

Become a Certified Personal Trainer

Rec Sports is now offering our Personal Trainer Certification Prep Course! This course will help prepare participants to take a nationally accredited certified personal trainer exam. Rec Sports is often looking to add high quality certified personal trainers to our team. If you are serious about becoming certified and potentially working as a personal trainer for Rec Sports, please contact our Strength & Conditioning Coordinator for more details about our prep course and about the different certification organizations that are available to you.
