The Department of Rec Sports Brick Campaign has been created to give all students, former students and employees the opportunity to have their name permanently etched in stone on the Texas A&M campus and to ensure that this world class university continues to offer students a world class recreational facility - the Student Recreation Center. The values promoted by the University - leadership, fair play, sportsmanship, honesty and integrity - have been known by generations as the Aggie Spirit. Recreational Sports and the Student Recreation Center embody this Aggie Spirit by providing all Aggies with the facilities and programs to challenge themselves, test their limits and gain the benefits of sportsmanship.
Aggies work hard and play hard. From the classroom to the playing field, they are known for testing their limits. For aiming high and reaching higher. For giving one hundred-ten percent. For challenging the ultimate opponent . . . themselves.
The Rec Sports Brick Campaign will create an endowment to ensure Texas A&M continues to have the best recreational sports facilities and programs in the country. Operationally, the endowment funds will be used to maintain and operate the Student Recreation Center and the other Department of Recreational Sports programs and facilities. The Department supports programs in aquatics, aerobics/fitness, intramurals, sport clubs, outdoor adventure, golf and drop-in recreation.
The Department of Recreational Sports has created an area to be known as the "Walk of Champions," which will feature two sizes of bricks engraved with the names and affiliations of those contributing to the Walk of Champions brick campaign.
Current students and current or retired Texas A&M faculty and staff can add a 4-x-8 inch brick to the Walk of Champions for $100 and a 8-x-8 inch brick for $200. The smaller bricks are limited to one individual name except for a husband and wife; the larger bricks are for multiple names or team names. For former students of Texas A&M and others, the cost is $250 for the smaller brick and $400 for the larger one.
The Walk of Champions was so named "to honor everyone's dedication to leadership, fair play, honesty and integrity, which are all part of the Aggie Spirit." Bricks will be placed in the front walkway of the Student Recreation Center and in the landscaped grass area of the circle drive at the building.
Bricks can be ordered now or in the future, and there are guidelines as to how payments for the various bricks can be made. Order forms are available in the Student Recreation Center and at the Texas A&M Golf Course.
Order forms also can be sent to you by calling James Welford at 979-862-1856 or e-mailing him at champions@rec.tamu.edu or by clicking on the order form link. (Order form in Adobe .PDF format)
